The River Brora

Walking in and around Brora

There are several soft walks in and around Brora, most of which have good tracks and paths with very little or no rough going. Here are some examples of local walks.

Walk along the river Brora

This walk is a nice steady stroll down the side of the River Brora. It does require some walking on the road as you start your return journey through the Doll. At the beach look out for the many seals on the small rock formations.

Big Burn

This is a very sheltered walk suitable for wet or dry days. The route is very picturesque so take your camera with you. There are three picnic sites on this walk.

Ben Bhraggie

This walk takes in the Ben Bhraggie hill and, although short, is steep in some parts. The views from the top are great and well worth the effort. There is a Ben Bhraggie race in the summer when people much fitter than me run up and down the hill in half the time that it takes most to walk up! The path to the top was rebuilt in 1999 making the walk easier than ever.
